Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the LawBookify website (lawbookify.ca) and the services provided by LawBookify, operated by Eve McCate, doing business as LawBookify, based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. By accessing our website or engaging our services, you agree to these terms.
1. Services
LawBookify provides fractional controller, bookkeeping, trust accounting, compliance support, legal software setup, payroll, and related financial and operational services exclusively to law firms. The specific scope, deliverables, and pricing for any engagement are set out in a separate service agreement or proposal provided to the client prior to commencement of work.
2. Engagement and Authorization
Services commence only upon written agreement between LawBookify and the client, which may take the form of a signed proposal, engagement letter, or email confirmation. No services will be provided without prior written authorization.
3. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for:

Providing accurate, complete, and timely information required for LawBookify to perform the agreed services

Maintaining appropriate access credentials and permissions to systems and accounts used in the engagement

Reviewing and approving all work product within agreed timelines

Ensuring their own compliance with Law Society requirements, tax obligations, and other regulatory requirements applicable to their practice
LawBookify is not responsible for errors or delays caused by incomplete, inaccurate, or late information provided by the client.
4. Fees and Payment
Fees are outlined in the applicable service agreement or proposal. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, invoices are due within 15 days of the invoice date. LawBookify reserves the right to suspend services for accounts that are more than 30 days past due.
5. Confidentiality
LawBookify treats all client information as strictly confidential. We will not disclose client information to any third party without prior written consent, except as required by law or as necessary to perform the agreed services using approved third-party platforms.
6. Limitation of Liability
LawBookify provides operational and financial support services and does not provide legal advice. Nothing in our work product constitutes legal advice, and clients should consult qualified legal counsel for matters requiring legal opinion.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LawBookify's liability for any claim arising out of or related to our services is limited to the fees paid by the client in the three months immediately preceding the claim. LawBookify is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.
7. Intellectual Property
All templates, tools, processes, and methodologies developed by LawBookify remain the intellectual property of LawBookify. Work product prepared specifically for a client and delivered as part of an engagement belongs to the client upon full payment of applicable fees.
8. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement with 30 days written notice. Upon termination, the client is responsible for fees incurred up to the termination date. LawBookify will provide reasonable transition assistance to support continuity of the client's operations.
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising under these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
10. Changes to These Terms
LawBookify reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be posted on the website with a revised effective date. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
